My Chinook triple clamp aluminum(167-229cm) broke last week-end near the plastic clamp but directly on the aluminum where there is an inside reinforcement tube. It lasted 2 seasons. I will find out If I will be credited this week for the boom and would like your knowledge for my future boom.
Obviously, I would appreciate it to last longer and be less heavy. Its for my 6.0 and 7.7 (185- 211cm). The store said they might replace it with the new version (pro alloy moncoque), which has a weird shape and is still heavy but would be free of charge. At Windspirit, they have a Neilpryde X6 on special at 362$ (180- 230cm)that has some sort of carbon. What do you think? I know Chinook has a full carbon at 625? but that is way out of budget. Merci. Le boom en carbone chinook est le meilleur investissement : performance (surtout avec grosses voiles) et LONGÉVITÉ! J'en ai 3 , dont 1 qui a plus de 6 saisons ( celui de formula en plus ).....

L'alu est mou, confortable et brise !

maui carbon boom it's the best so far that i see but it very heavy ,but man it 's stiff like rock compare to chinook it' butter.

Si tu calcules le prix de remplacement sur une dizaine d'années, le côté sécurité et non le moindre la performance, le Chinook Carbon gagne à tout coup versus n'importe quel boom d'alu.

Ça fait mal au porte-feuille une fois pis après ce ne sont que sourires.

Mes Chinook Carbon ont aujourd'hui 8 ans et sont toujours vivants.

Take a peek at the Aeron V-Grips. Stiffness approaching that of carbon, lower price than carbon. Downside: Still has the weight of alloy and probably a touch heavier than the Chinook Pro-Alloy due to extra material in the tube cross-section. Note: the new shape is due to the continuous tube through the front-end. The pro-alloy will be stiffer than the triple clamps, to some degree.

C'est vrai qu'il existe de plus en plus de boom en alu solide. Mais je me demande comment le V-Grips va se débrouiller à 211Cm? Je suis un peu sceptique...mais $$$!!!

Très très bon choix Dean :clap: J'ai un seul boom pour toutes mes voiles (3.4m à 5.8m) et avec près de 300 sorties je crois que ce Chinook a été rentabilisé :worship: et il n'est pas prêt de rendre l'âme :wink:

Et pis on ne parle même pas des performances du boom :woo:

ET on ne parle pas du mauvais traitement de ce dernier aux mains d'un tortionnaire de booms :blink:
